FireFly Music Together
Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for infants,
toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1987,
it pioneered the concept
of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical.

Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children.

They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Mary Cawley has taught General Music in a public school setting for over 10 years. Her commitment to early childhood music education has led her to teach Music Together® Classes. Music Together offers all children the best possible musical beginning available. Mary knows first hand how music learning supports all learning.  Just watch the children, listen to how they are singing, chanting and rhyming! This musical beginning is magical! It is fascinating to witness!

Mary enjoys playing and teaching piano.   She has also been a singer with The New York Choral Society since 1993.

Making music allows for a sense of joy and spirit that transcends all of life's boundaries. Mary views Music Together classes as a superb beginning towards what can become a lifelong passion.

Sophia first discovered a love for working with children as a dance teaching assistant when she was twelve. Inspired and encouraged by Patricia Tully-Osborn of the Spring Lake School of Dance, in July of 2008 she completed her Dance Educators of America certification. She has been on the SLSD teaching staff ever since, specializing in pre-school ballet and tap. She is also a pre-k ballet teacher at the JCC of Deal.

In November of 2010, she completed her Music Together teacher training and has continued her training by working with Miss Mary. The greatest lessons in life however, she continues to learn from the always curious, imaginative, and wonderful children she works with.

Sophia has found that Music Together comes as a natural addition to her life as a result of her love for music, experience in teaching dance, and work as a nanny for many families over the years.  She believes that we are able to positively affect the mind and life of a child through an early connection to music and movement that will stay with them forever. Sophia looks forward to sharing the gift of music with many families in the years to come.

Jason Cawley recently completed his Music Together Teacher Training. He has a passion for playing and teaching guitar. Jason also enjoys songwriting. Before Music Together, Jason worked for 4 years as a sound and lighting technician for Theatre.

Jason was recently inspired to take the Teacher Training program as he enjoyed watching his 3 year old niece,  Joey,  develop musically by her participation in the Music Together program. "Most of our interactions are musical and fun" says Jason "and what a great way to communicate with a child!"

Jason feels that teaching Music Together classes will help children to simply enjoy singing with confidence, a gift for all!
